International superstars Ne-Yo, Shaggy, Ludacris and Protoje will join Shoelace and three-time SA Music Award winners Mi Casa for the first MBay Mega Fest at Port Elizabeth’s Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday, 2 June 2012.

This spectacular line-up of South African and international music talent is set to position PE as a significant player on the country’s festival circuit, while providing a much-needed boost to the Eastern Cape economy.

This all-day festival, starting at 10am, will feature non-stop entertainment across two stages. The headline acts will dazzle the crowds on the main stage with essential grooves ranging from reggae and house to R&B and rap, while the secondary stage will host an electrifying array of local DJs and artists from the region to keep the party pumping.

The MBay Mega Fest is being staged by newcomers to the music scene Zeranza (Pty) LTD.

The J-BAY Profest will be taking place from the 13th -22th July in Jeffreys Bay.. This annual event has grown into a animal of its own and increases in number each and every year, thus we have to increase the entertainment value!!!!

Accompanying Emo will be ever-popular comedian Ashley Pienaar and Andries Vermeulen, a spirited young artist full of life, whose CD was nominated for a SAMA award for Best Afrikaans Comedy album of the year.

LearnPhotography offers regular weekend getaways to the Ganora Guest Farm near Nieu Bethesda for students wishing to combine the introductory photography short course with a fun filled weekend.
Our aim is to provide an easy-to-understand and user-friendly learning experience that will enable you to produce stunning photographs with a high level of consistency.
Locations are carefully selected, allowing you to experience some of the most beautiful parts of our country.

Course Aims
1. To demystify camera controls.
2. To teach you to use your camera to its full potential and have fun at the same time.
3. To provide an easy-to-understand and user-friendly training experience that will enable you to produce stunning photographs with a high level of consistency.

Course Content
The courses content is divided into theoretical classes and practical workshops.

Theory
The theory component includes:
1. Camera controls and menus
2. The creative use of camera controls
3. Camera care
4. Lenses and accessories
5. Introduction to composition

Practical Workshops
The workshops allow students to put to practice lessons learned during the theory sessions, under the guidance of a professional photographer. Four workshops are included:
1. A natural light documentary workshop. Students learn the art of documentary portraiture by photographing local residence in and around their homes. The workshop centres on the use of natural light to create character studies of rare and sublime beauty. Special attention is also given to composition, posing subjects, and background control.
2. A light painting workshop. Light painting is a form of night photography where scenes are lit with powerful hand-held torches during long exposures. It is an experimental technique that produces surprising and stunning results.
3. A sunset-silhouette workshop. Students learn to deconstruct landscapes with the aid of
4. exposure manipulation to create foreground silhouettes with strong communication value against intensely colourful skies (Please note that this workshop is weather dependent).
5. A outdoor natural light workshop
The workshop centres on the use of natural light for portrait and landscape studies. Students learn to utilize both direct sunlight and open shade. The creative use of camera controls, light direction, using fill-in flash, composition, assessing light quality, controlling unwanted backgrounds, and posing subjects are stressed yet again (Please note that this workshop is weather dependent).

About Ganora

Ganora is a sheep farm situated in the foothills of the majestic Snow Berg Range sixty kilometres north of Graaff Reinet in the Karroo Heartland. The farmstead and guest cottages nestle in the slopes of a depression carved into the bedrock by ancient rivers in pre-historic times. The surrounding rock formations and rich fossil beds on the farm bear testimony to the events that contributed to the formation of this vast and beautiful land.

The original farmstead and outbuildings, dating back to the mid 1700′s, has been converted into guest accommodation. The stone packed kraal wall that once surrounded the farmyard, today form part of the guest cottage interiors, allowing visitors the rare pleasure of interacting with the past.

Farm owners Jan-Peet and Hester is involved in a game rehabilitation program. The result is that orphaned game often makes the farm yard their home, allowing visitors the opportunity to make close contact.
The farm museum boasts an extensive fossil collection, including rare examples found nowhere else in the country. Jan-Peet’s knowledge of Karroo fossils, together with his enthusiasm for the subject makes his talks and fossil veld tours hugely popular with young and old. Jan-Peet also works closely with researchers from Wits, Rhodes and the NMMU universities.
The farm also has various sites with well-preserved rock paintings and engraving. This is Hester’s area of expertise. Her enthusiasm for the subject is affectious and visitors can look forward to an entertaining and informative talk on the subject, bringing to life 11 000 years of Bushman folklore.
Meal times at Ganora are of special importance. This is down time and visitors can look forward to traditional Karroo cooking, good company, much laughter and stories about the day’s events. Regular fare on offer includes Karroo lamb, kudu and other game dishes, bobotie with spiced rice, organically grown vegetable dishes, koeksisters and milk tart.

Peripheral Activities

In addition to the photography workshops students will be entertained to the following:
1. An astronomy lecture with colour images produced with the world’s largest telescopes. Learn about the birth and death of stars, the big bang theory, black holes, the expansion of the Universe at supersonic speed, the speed of light, and much

The competition involves you attending at LEAST 3 boot camp sessions per week, every week for 16 weeks, AND we will do body fat, muscle mass measurements and centimeter measurements at the start, every 4 weeks thereafter, and at the end of the competition. There will be a standard fitness test that will be conducted ONCE at the start and ONCE at the end of the competition to measure the improvement in your fitness levels.

There will be a male and female winner “crowned”. The winners will NOT be the persons that lost the most weight, but rather the persons who reduced their overall body fat percentage the most AND gained muscle mass, AND who lost the most centimeters AND whose fitness levels improved the most according to their fitness tests!!!

The competition will “kick off” on Monday, 6 February 2012 and finish on Friday, 25 May 2012 – with the FINAL measurements taken on Monday, 28 May – Winners will be announced at a function on Friday, 1 June 2012!!!!

The competition is open to ALL existing AND new boot campers, and you may join in the competition until the second week where after no new competitors will be accepted to make it an even playing field.
