TEEN MISS & MR PORT ELIZABETH
“Purpose Driven Philanthropic Pageants”
The pageant slogan, “Inspiring Hope in the Heart of the Community”, is synonymous with this pageant. The aim is to create hope, since it seems that society has lost its sense of hope, which is resulting in a lack of enthusiasm and expectation from life itself.
The event was first held in 1995, originally only for little girls; it has grown and been expanded to include the youth at large, males & females, aged 4-19years, within age categories. Last year 200 youngsters entered; and even though all 200 can not possibly win, all the contestants underwent a 6 week training program in order to enhance confidence and grooming; and most importantly for the youth to become aware of the needs of the less privileged in society. We endeavour to teach even young children, that they too can make a difference; this is important as we believe that values are taught in the growing years; we cannot expect a generation to be sensitive to the needs of others if they have been de-sensitised in their formative years. These titles have become highly sought after by the youth of the Nelson Mandela Bay.
In 2010 the pageant sported a new logo incorporating a lighthouse; the lighthouse which guides ships to safety is symbolic of our aim to guide and develop our youth to be role models, leading the next generation to safer shores; whilst inspiring hope and light to those less fortunate in our community, who may feel left in the dark from despair. The analogy can also be synonymous with that of going on a journey, as this event is aimed at changing their perspective and broadening their horizons to become aware of the dire circumstances in the community, thus nurturing their skills, so as to empower them to make a difference.
All the contestants are expected to do a fair amount of charity work in the six week training period; and the winners then have an obligation to continue supporting Rolemodels Foundation and other needy individuals during their year of reign. It has been our experience that when the youth become involved in charity work, their entire family pitches in and follows suite; thus having a positive domino affect; infact, many of our titleholders continue to do charity work long after their year of reign is over, since it usually becomes a family lifestyle. This philanthropic pageant ensures that youngsters between the age of 4-19yrs will be exposed to an experience which will benefit them, as well as the community at large, for years to follow.
The titles awarded are as follows:
JUNIORS:
Tiny Miss PE – Aged 4-6 yrs
Little Miss PE – Aged 7-9 yrs
Pre-Teen Miss PE – Aged 10-12yrs
Tiny Mr PE – Aged 4-6yrs

If you have never seen a lathe before and have no experience you will still go home with something to be proud off. With one to one tuition you will be able to improve your turning skills and learn various ways of surface texturing your work. Tuition Cost: R500.00 R300.00 deposit is payable upfront to secure your spot and R200.00 balance is payable on arrival. All tools & equipment, timber and finishing materials will be provided during tuition. Handouts & Resource Guides will be on hand.

Time: 08h30 – 15h30

Venue: My workshop which is fully equipped is situated at Comsec Complex in North End. You will be given detailed directions with a map.

Overview: Courses can be tailored to suit individual requirements such as turning platters, wooden pen turning, bowl turning, wall sculptures – not for the faint hearted and using colour & texture to enhance work.
